Brothers Found Not Guilty Highlights Flaw in Cases

Two brothers were exonerated after a trial in Chicago

The identifications, police work and prosecutors withholding evdence all contributed to the horrible 17 month incarceration of two innocent brothers. The two brothers were identified by the victim of a shooting only after police showed him photos of the two young men. He was only shown these two men. Even though the victim went to grammar school with the brothers and had not named them, police inexplictably centered their attention on the two. No witness to the shooting named the young men. Prosecutors withheld favorable evidence from the defense.

All together the flaws were enough to keep the pari locked up for almost one and half years.

These facts happen all too often to young men and women. Police taking shortcuts, focused only on suspects and not facts. Prosecutors trusting police have done a thorough job avoid their responsibiliyt to verify work and disregard evidence pointing to someone else or away from the defendants.

Think people still need fewer rights? With police and prosecutors still behaving like this, we need quality lawyers and judges doing their jobs maybe more than ever.
